You're presumably considering getting Magna Tiles for their quality contribution to learning and bringing enjoyment simultaneously.

Magna Tiles is a long-term investment, and this warrants the high price tag. Your child will keep them well into his adult years and meanwhile other grownups will relish in playing alongside him/her.

As if that wasn't enough, the clear-colors range is very attractive You can assemble structures of all sorts and leave them on display. Yes, unlike with the standard Magna Tiles range, you can use the translucent range to ornament your house.

However not all children will delight in playing with Magna Tiles

Magna Tiles need more measured handling than most other types of building block - not that the parts break with ease, but the structures you build may not stay together as solidly. The parts link together with the force of magnets along their sides, and although they wont be knocked over by the lightest breeze or when you sneeze, the structures you build are that much more easily demolished.

If you're thinking about buying these for a child who is yet to develop a delicate utilisation of their hands, or an individual who is reasonably impatient or quick to anger, then Magna Tiles may not be the right choice. Not right now at least, and not for this Christmas.

Sure, Magna Tiles will teach your child how to use their hands and fingers more delicately, but your child just may not be ready for them as of yet, in which instance they may just get mad and frustrated and toss them off, thereby missing out on the potential fun and educational benefits.

Numerous schools all over the U.S. use Magna Tiles as an adjunct to kids' maths education by focussing on demonstrating numbers and geometry with Magna Tiles.

Magna Tiles can help your child to learn the simple mathematical concept of counting, adding and subtracting, and then go on to learn about fractions, percentages etc. Outside of maths they can be used for problem solving and heightening creativity.

So which one should you get? In short, since the clear colored set was introduced, the basic set just looks plain terrible in comparison. The thirty two piece sets ARE cheaper, but you can't really construct anything large with them - chances are you'll go and buy yourself another set, in which case it'd just be cheaper for you to go for the 100 part set straight off the bat. And what about the DX set? The special pieces don't really contribute much to what you can do with Magna Tiles, and regrettably doesn't come in a translucent variety.

So we are left with the Magna Tiles Clear Colors 100 Pieces set, which in my opinion is the only Magna Tiles set you ought to be getting if you're purchasing this for the first time.
