More and more homeowners are experiencing the satisfaction of repairing their tile and grout. The high cost of labor, even for small jobs, has driven people to stores looking for tile, materials, products and information.

This is GREAT! Why not learn homeowners tile and grout?

I have seen many houses with full ceramic tile jobs that have made the hair on your neck standing on a fright ... especially in households where the paths of baseline for the developer is speed and corners to cut. So the more we learn about different crafts and techniques and applications thereof, we will better recognize a well made and the final product to be proud.

With this in mind, here are some injection techniques to install in your memory banks for your next tile or stone job around the house.

If you are planning new tiles or scratch the grout existing tiled area, make sure to clean the grout joints thoroughly and have recorded outside of the areas you do not want the grout to "overflow". Clean grout out of the cabinets closed and semi or glossy paints will not harm the material if you take care when cleaning, but sometimes a bit of work invested in the areas adjacent to the recording will make the job easier in the long run.

When the gasket is clean and ready filling mix the powdered grout with clean water according to package specifications. The grout must be free of lumps and a consistency that is easy to pour of the tray.

Use the cap to its implementation. A non-sand grout should be used for grout joints that are 1 / 8 "and smaller in width, while sand slurry will be used in joints that are larger. Typically you'll find smaller grout joints with non-sand grout in the bathroom and shower areas.

Remember, you do not want the water from the sponge to puddle on the grout as this weakens and deforms the consistency.

Finally, a good final wipe off any high point in the other unions nozzle and clean the tiles of the remaining haze. After the grout dries, you can polish the tiles with a gauze or a soft cotton cloth to remove any residual Left. Good job!
