Kitchen backsplash ideas?

I guess it's technically the splash from the tile wall is about 8 inches from the wall. It's a new house, kitchen and living room are like a large room. The lounge is a light tan / almost peach in the afternoon, with white plantation shutters and molding. The kitchen has light oak cabinets with white appliances and tile appears light brown travertine. I would like the style of being kind of Americana / Cape Cod or a feeling of the Southwest.
