In this tough economy, many of you are facing the fact that the replacement of counters and cabinets in the kitchen and not in the budget. But solutions are at hand than just participation of primer, paint, varnish and templates. These solutions will have your kitchen looking like new in no time at all, without the pain in the wallet and the demolition of their home.

Paint and primer can be your best friend at times like these. Do not let the fear of DIY projects stop, because it's really very simple.

First, let's primer. That is the most important step preparation. Without the first properly, you run the risk up or flaking paint chipping off.

Give your cabinets a new look is just as easy. You use the same procedure and products mentioned. Remove the handles and hinges to protect the painters tape. Prime with 3-4 coats of primer recommended.

Again, choose natural colors, as cream, beige, brown or beige.

Decorating your cabinets can be a lot of fun! Once the base coat color is dry, try one or a combination of decoration of the following techniques:

* Color washing: Mix one part paint to 5 parts of the wall of clear nail polish (available in the paint department of most home stores). Paint this mixture on the surface, then with an old towel, dry, wipe off excess. This gives an aspect old.

* Using a template of plaster, raised to implement a design that you love the fronts of your cabinets using the common joint compound. Allow raised design to dry overnight and then do the same technique color wash on top of design to bring out the details. Allow the color to remain in recess.

* Use a paint template for adding a favorite design. Consider a central motif, such as leaves, leaves palm, or acanthus leaves to bring nature to your kitchen or bathroom.

As with the previous technique, allow all paint to dry and then apply 2 coats of varnish to protect its finish.

One of my favorite treatments is a sponge tile two similar colors in the tables (remember to keep your colors in natural tones whenever possible). Combining these colors and gives a very smooth finish.

creative ideas for works of art for the kitchen curtains?

i am thinking of covering my kitchen cabinets with curtains instead of vinyl cabinet doors ... and I also plan to design the artwork to myself and get printed on vinyl. can you please suggest some creative backgrounds / themes / texture / nada .... It is not going to be about 6 of them need a continuity and may not be too flashy in color choice ... the walls are white with white tiles, but I have a strip of squares in yellow, blue, red through the wall ...

I suppose it depends on what kind of "theme" you want your kitchen to be. I do something similar with some of my cabinets, but I only use batik tapestries. Finding out that your kitchen is white with white and yellow tiles, red and blue (primary colors) makes me think of the modern and contemporary art I actually went with an abstract design only cool in all of them, where perhaps the majority are white, but with the primary colors are some kind of design abstract. Once again it is very difficult to say without hearing about any direction you are trying to go with in your kitchen, but I hope maybe that helped a little
