Installing a Backsplash kitchen â € "Part III: Installing the panels

Before installing a backsplash tile, you should read all manufacturers documentation for the tile, grout and other materials to be used. This will help ensure that you have amounts sufficient supplies on hand to complete the project, and confirm that the materials being used are recommended for use with each other. Read all instructions and recommendations to provide additional information such as the proper trowel to use for your project and whether the tile and grout should be sealed.

Many of the installers prefer experienced tile adhesive caulk as the basis for a vertical backsplash, but your tile may require a certain kind of adhesive. Before applying the glue, the wall where the backsplash will be installed must be lightly sand and dust removed to create a rougher surface for the adhesive. The container for the thinset or mastic must designate the right kind of palette to use in your application.

The splash zone should be measured, and the boxes used for the first time in what will be the center of the splashing. Tiles should be applied to the wall in small sections at a time to prevent premature drying of the adhesive. Tiles should be secured to the adhesive using a turning motion, with each being reviewed to ensure that the level and equidistant from adjacent cells. Inserting separators is an easy way to achieve consistent spacing between tiles.

Since installing tile after tile, find the areas that require cutting tables, to fit around an electrical outlet. Cut tiles as reach these areas, rather than early, can help ensure the best fit.

Once the design is complete panels, the adhesive should be left to dry before grouting. Grout should be used in small batches so that it does not dry too fast. Apply the grout as described in the product package, removing excess grout from the tile surface with a clean wet sponge on the fly.

As the grout dries, the film is likely to form on the surface of the spray. This film can be removed with a soft cloth. To end your backsplash, seal the tile and grout if recommended for materials that are using.
