How To Lay Ceramic Tile

How to Apply Ceramic Tile tabletop? What to use so that cement does not run off of table-- cement vs plaster?

Want to lay ceramic tile as an outdoor tabletop. Don't know procedure, or what materials would work best
Please advise

Make sure your surface is pretty level with no large bulges.
You buy a quart or so of tile adhesive. Spread it with a toothed trowel in portions, splitting the spread into quarters usually a little over 1/8" since it will go outside.
Lay the tile in as you like it. Most tiles have tabs for spacers that accept grout later, some are made to fit perfectly together so no grout is needed.
Press each tile in about 1/4" from adjacent tile, twisting as you press to get good adhesion, the slide it next to the adjacent tile.
When you finish with one section, do another. This keeps the adhesive fresh. Don't worry about some of the adhesive dripping off the edges--the amount you put on is so minimal it should wipe off with a soft cloth and whatever the can says for removal of unwanted adhesive.
If grouting, wait until tile has set and adhesive is dry, about a day or so if warm. Duct tape around the outside of the tile and table edge. Apply grout to tiles where they join. Wipe off excess grout with a damp sponge. Shine it all up later, when the grout has dried.
