How to build a shower pan is an interesting issue, especially if you have a leaky shower.

When I noticed a wet spot on the floor of the room next to the shower, I knew I was in trouble. I had not noticed that the grout had deteriorated at the bottom of the shower. A trip in the house confirmed the leaks and damage to the floor under the shower. I paid special attention when Mr. Davis finally arrived, it seemed that this would be an interesting DIY project.

After seeing all the work, I still believe that a person can learn how to build hand the shower pan.

Here's how.

Repair damage.

The damage is usually below the sub floor and around the shower pan. Remove rotted material and replace it. If water has damaged walls or ceilings in floors below, you may be looking at bills major repairs. Avoiding these problems is why you want the job done right.

Install drainage base.

Tile floors are not waterproof. The mortar is exposed to the water absorbs some water. Failure to mix the mortar properly, and not collapse. Install the drain properly so that weeps water
in the mortar is the drain. Now rough in the drainage base.

Create a mortar base of slope.

Build its slope in here. The slope moves all the water to prevent leakage of water. Create a base of two inches thick that drops down the drain. Let this bed cure before the next step.

Install the shower floor pan and the top of the membrane drain line.

A flexible membrane, Waterproof passes over the mortar base. The membrane is a rubber-like material that is waterproof. The membrane goes up the sides of the wall a few inches. One of the tricks is properly folding the liner in the corners.

Install the top mortar layer.

A second layer of mortar is installed in the lining and reinforced with wire.

Building the threshold.

Construct all forms of threshold and pour mortar mix to establish the correct form.

Installing tile.

After the second coat of mortar cures, install a layer of thinset. After installing tile. Than thinset cure then grout.

Shower Floor Pan tricks.

There are several places to make mistakes and many questions may arise.

• Like How do you build the threshold?
• How do get the correct amount of the fall on the floor?
• How is the bread attached to the drain?
• What kind of clay is better and how they blend?
• How do you get the liner in the corners?
• How do I run the bread over the walls?

How much per square foot tile shower should cost?

My guy is charging $ 5 x 80 square meters of tiles of my shower, and $ 275 for install WonderBoard. $ 125 to install the shower door. Is reasonable?

So about $ 850? That's fine, I think. You did not mention if it includes the price of the tile or what type of tile is (ceramic, marble travertine). Some are working much more intense than others to install. Make sure it seals well before using. Note that, of course, is cheaper than do it yourself, but if you're not familiar, I would not start with something like a shower.
