I need help with this ...?
Therefore, there is something in this paragraph that bothers me ... I can not imagine why. It is the choice of words. Any suggestions? I'm stuck. *********************** After I grabbed my bag, I ran downstairs. The kitchen was a disaster. A broken glass lay on the tile in a pool of orange juice. One of the chairs had been demolished. Somehow, the trash was dropped on its side and debris spilled across the room. Fantastic. Any ******************** help would be appreciated. I do not like "was" I'm not sure what to put.
You are using more periods, breaks down the flow of reading and makes everything in one piece. This can sometimes be used in special cases, but in general it is best avoided. Also, you should consider using thesauri to avoid a repetition of words, especially if it is in the same sentence (trash, garbage.) Finally, try to use active voice more often than passive. (Example: I grabbed my bag and ran downstairs.)
