Ceramic Tile On Kitchen Floor

Replacing a ceramic tile floor?

I am looking to replace a ceramic tile floor in the kitchen with a different style of ceramic tile. The contractor says I have two options. Can then lay the new ceramic tile over the old, which will be cheaper than the education of the old tile, but then the plant will increase by 1 " 1 1 / 2 "above the current level. Or you can take up old ceramic tiles but then would have to remove the old layer of plywood and left A new layer, which is more labor intensive and costly. Are there other issues with respect to these two scenarios should be considered?

Best to start and start again. And start a new sub floor made by and for the proper thickness for tile .. NEVER, NEVER use a thin 1 / 4 "luan wood or layers .. This is totally inadequate for the tile and goes against all tile book guides hand such as ATV and thickness of substrate book.Minimum TCA guide for tile is 1 1 / 4 "is not 1 "as suggested.Thus must use 1 / 2" board or backing board (correctly installed) to meet minimum standards of stability tile.There for other ways to install but it is very common. Reviewing old and new card is a possible option but tile setter needs to know what your doing. Thus, only thickened and tile floor thin set. I had never lifted check it a lot.
