Best Ceramic Tile Patterns

Posted By admin on June 2, 2010

One of the most convenient things about living in the 21st century is the sheer abundance of showers. They are always a pleasure to use, and efficient with their use of water. Additionally, they provide a wonderful surface with which to make ceramic tile patterns. Ceramic tile patterns can be made in a variety of ways, each with their own pros and cons.

Ceramic tile patterns come, primarily, with two different bases. Large format tiles, and small mosaic tiles. Large format tiles are usually placed side-to-side, creating ceramic tile patterns through variations of colour or surface texture. Large format tiles have the additional benefit of excellent waterproofing properties. Tiles are, obviously, waterproof by the grouting that is placed between this isn’t. Grout is porous, and water can seep through it. So the large surface area of large format tiles necessitates less grout, thus your ceramic tile patterns will have a lower chance of leaking. While this is an excellent property, large format tiles can’t make the most interesting patterns.

Small mosaic tiles are remarkably versatile since they are so small. They can be arranged in a variety of ceramic tile patterns, from square to circular patterns. However, you have to make sure that waterproofing layer beneath the small mosaic tiles is really well placed, since there will be a lot of grout between the small mosaic  tiles, which could lead to leaking. However, the sheer variety of ceramic tile patterns that a small mosaic tile affords is staggering. By combining an interesting pattern, with different colours and surfaces, you can make fantastic ceramic tile patterns in your shower. But why would you limit these patterns to your shower when you have a large surface like a wall or floor to work with?

Since a bathroom’s floor and walls are traditionally tiled, it makes sense to make it an interesting surface to look at or walk on since you will need to look at it every day. When there is little to no water to worry about, the porous issues becomes a complete side-issue and personal taste comes into play. Small mosaic tiles can be used liberally in ceramic tile patterns without the worry of leakage and flooding, however a new problem crops up.

Small mosaic tiles can have many sharp edges that you can cut your feet on if they aren’t laid correctly. This a big concern when you have small children or babies in the house, since they can easily cut themselves even easier. Large format tiles offer fewer sharp edges, since there are fewer tiles needed for ceramic tile patterns. Large format tiles will cost less too, since you won’t need as many. You will need a lot of small mosaic tiles to cover a floor or a wall, so they are probably better suited to shower surfaces if you have a limited budget.

Ceramic tile patterns flourish when you exercise your creativity, and consider your budget, to create bathroom and shower surfaces that are safe, waterproof and aesthetically pleasing.

Description

Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Set, Service for 4, includes 4-each 10-1/4-inch Dinner Plates, 6-3/4-inch Bread and Butter Plates, 18-ounce Soup/Cereal Bowls, 11-ounce Stoneware Mugs, Winter Frost

Since Corelle is famous for producing dinnerware and bakeware that cannot be broken or chipped, it's hard to resist holding a plate without wanting to drop it on the tile floor to see what happens. While Corelle doesn't recommend home tests, this casual 16-piece dinnerware set is still fairly indestructible and is a real asset for busy families. Livingware is easy to maintain as it's dishwasher-, microwave- and oven-safe and is never off-limits for small children to use and handle because of its light weight and durability. The set is comprised of four 10-1/4-inch dinner plates, four 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plates, four 18-ounce bowls, and four 11-ounce mugs. Plates and bowls are all made of Corelle's signature material, Vitrelle, which is created from three layers of glass that are compressed under extreme heat and laminated for strength. On the other hand, the mugs in this set are crafted of Corelle's stoneware, which is actually breakable and has a heavier feel than Vitrelle. For diners who recall Corelle patterns as being decorated with rather cutesy floral and fruit patterns, this simple, pure white pattern is sure to appeal to their modern preferences. Livingware plates and bowls sport a relaxed and rimless coupe shape and are all stackable for more efficient storage. Corelle warrants this dinnerware pattern against cracks, chips, breakage, and staining for a full year from the date of purchase. --Cristina Vaamonde What's in the Box 4 dinnerware place settings.
