Easy Arts & Crafts Kid's Projects: How to make a Geometric Decorative Paper Tile
Create a cottage look at home after one of these guides, or mix and match styles to create a look entirely yours. There are no rules when it comes to these eclectic American designs.
Early American / Colonial (1640-1700)-The most basic point of the furniture in America, the first American style was utilitarian and made from local materials such as indigenous woods like maple, walnut and pine. English styles were simplified in the colonies or brought in abroad to provide housing at the time. However, some important American innovations, like the iconic rocker have been developed during this time and that will be very dear additions to houses today. Shaker (1820-1860)-constructed by a religious group in America with the same name, Shaker furniture exhibited a spare, simple in design. The pieces were of solid colored lines smooth and tapered, woven chair seats, rounded wooden knobs, and provided for optimal functionality. The result is a look that is clean and simple, but well designed.
Mission Style / Arts and Crafts (1880-1910) "The Arts and Crafts style, also known as Mission style, played an extremely important role in furniture design in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Arts and Crafts movement focused on functionality and the belief things were meant to be used. While the philosophy seems to put decades of fabulously boring furniture, it was quite the opposite. On the contrary, Arts and Crafts furniture was fine designed, with manufacturers rely on exquisite craftsmanship and finishing techniques to add quiet elegance to an item. Joints such as mortise and tenon of ubiquitous time, were in clear vision and improve the appearance of otherwise simple. Wood was often quarter sawing charming as presented by the grain of wood, nails usually hammer and hand, with nails upholstery complement the brilliant leaders. Wooden slats, stretchers and hinges of the tin and copper crafts more embellished, without ostentation, these masterpieces.
Rich-Southwestern colors of the Southwest landscape provide warmth and joyful spirit of this style. The furniture is more basic and natural and makes frequent use of mortise and tenon. The appearance is enhanced by turquoise or silver accents. The full development of a Southwestern look may require some carpets Navajo and other indigenous accents.
What color should I paint my living room?
The things I can not change are the windows that have a lot of orange, tile fireplace has a lot of shades of green tile, my juke box is orange and not I have oak / fireplace mantle in an arts and crafts home. Currently I have red walls and now I'm ready for a change .. thank you very much
